Vijf dingen die je nooit zult weten over Krakau
Groepstentoonstelling en mini residency

In samenwerking met: Bunkier Sztuki, Krakau, Polen met o.a. Barbara Visser, Matthew Buckingham en Karolina Bregula
Op uitnodiging van curator Anna Lebensztejn maakte ik een tweede editie van mijn werk Anecdote #001 uit 2006, een werk dat alleen bestaat uit een door mij in het leven geroepen anecdote, die doorverteld wordt door de curator van de tentoonstelling. In dit geval was de anecdote gebaseerd op de stad Krakau.
Ann Demeester over Anecdote #001: "Matthijs Bosman heeft een interesse in urban legends en Chinese whispers, verhalen die zichzelf lijken voort te planten en te multipliceren. [...] Bosman ‘veroorzaakt' situaties, in de vorm van driedimensionale beelden of in de vorm van concepten, die via diverse communicatiekanalen – als fictieteksten, krantenartikelen of geruchten – de wereld in geholpen worden. [...] Het werk ‘Anekdote' verspreidt zich als een virus gedurende de loop van de tentoonstelling en functioneert louter als gesproken mededeling aan individuele bezoekers."

Mini Residency Krakau
Ter voorbereiding op de Anecdote #002 verbleef ik korte tijd in Krakau. Tijdens deze 'Mini-residency' maakte ik kennis met de stad. Als 'straat artiest' tekende ik stukken van de stad. Deze 'SLOGs' (Sketch Logs) contrasteerden sterk met de 'niet te missen Top Tiens' van de stad, waarmee je op internet wordt overspoeld als je een bestemming opzoekt. Via Social Media bracht Bunkier Sztuki mijn serie SLOGs naar buiten. De deels weggevaagde tekeningen gaan over het onvermijdelijke vergeten van een plek. En hoeveel indrukwekkender dat is dan alle manieren die we hebben gevonden om te onthouden.
Laten we vooral onthouden om te vergeten. Het is de universele ode van de mensheid aan alle dingen die ongetwijfeld ooit zijn gebeurd.

Five things you'll never know about Krakow.
On invitation by curator Anna Lebensztejn I created a second edition of my work Anecdote #001 from 2006, a work that exist only of an anecdote invented by me. The anecdote is orally spread among vistors by the curator of the exhibition. In this case the anecdote was based on the city of Krakow. Ann Demeester on Anecdote #001: " Matthijs Bosman has an interest in urban legends and Chinese whispers, stories which seem to propagate themselves and multiply. [...] Bosman 'brings about' situations in the form of three-dimensional images or in the form of concepts that, via diverse channels of communication - such as fictional texts, newspaper articles or rumours - are set loose in the world. [...] The work Anecdote spreads like a virus throughout the duration of the exhibition and functions merely as a spoken declaration to individual visitors."
Preparing for Anecdote #002 I spent a brief period of rime in Krakow. During this 'Mini-Residency' I became familiar with the city. As a 'street-artist' I drew pieces of the city. These 'SLOGs' (Sketch Logs) contradicted the lists of 'Top Ten things to do' , that you're bombarded with when you look up your destination. Through Social Media Bunkier Sztuki published mij series of SLOGs. The partially erased drawings illustrated that the inevitable forgetting is far more impressive than all the ways we found to fight oblivion. So let's by all means remember to forget. It's mankind's universal ode to all things that have surely happened.
