In opdracht van: Provincie Noord-Brabant, Erfgoed Brabant en Kunstloc
Om te bereiken dat mensen als voor het eerst naar dit rijksmonument zouden gaan kijken, maakte ik niet de gevraagde sculptuur op het landgoed maar trok ik met mijn gezin in het kasteel en werd ik 'Kasteelheer van Geldrop'.
In een persbericht beweerde ik dat ik het recht op verblijf had geërfd en er ontstond een mediahype; de verhuizing haalde de landelijke televisie. Ons verblijf 'reanimeerde' het kasteel, honderden mensen kwamen ons bekijken. We sloten af met een bal dat vanuit de tuin bekeken en gehoord kon worden. Voor het toegestroomde publiek werd het een klein spektakel met vuurwerk en live vioolmuziek.
Het project werd later meerdere malen voorbeeldstellend genoemd en door NRC Handelsblad omschreven als één van de leukste kunst-'hoaxes' van het jaar.
By the Dutch Province of Noord-Brabant and Brabant Heritage I was commissioned to create a work of art on the estate of the castle of Geldrop. I wanted people to look at this national monument again as if they saw it for the first time. For that reason I decided not to make a sculpture as requested, instead I moved into the castle with my family and became 'Lord of Geldrop'. In a press release I stated that I had inherited the privilege to reside there. That started a media hype; our moving in made national television. Our stay 'reanimated' the castle, hundreds of people came to look at us. The conclusion of our stay was a gala that could be viewed and heard from the garden. For the crowd outside it became a bit of a spectacle with fireworks and live violin music. The project was later described as exemplary several times. By the Dutch national newspaper NRC Handelsblad it was called out as one of the best art-'hoaxes' of the year.
