During Havensafari, a cruise along a group exhibition in the Amsterdam harbor, 80 binoculars were handed out. From that moment on, the perception of the harbor completely changed. The audience now truly seemed to be on safari. Subsequently, the guide pointed out the surreal staging on shore, that could only be seen through the binoculars; the remains of a small, desolate shipwreck amidst the visual abundance and the overwhelming scale of the portís industry. The binoculars, carrying the title of this work, served as a tool to do more of these enigmatic discoveries, but they remained inextricably connected to the first scene the audience could zoom in on.
